Italia Drops a 3-2 Decision to the Three Time Champs

The boys battled to the final whistle but lose their quarter-final match against Slovakia.

The Azzurri came out flying against the hosts as Massimo D'Ettore would score a minute into the contest on a beautiful goal. The Slovaks would tie it midway threw the first as a lucky bounce sends the ball into the net. In the second the Italians ran into penalty trouble and with a two man advantage Slovakia would capitalize and would not relinquish the lead. Down 2-1 heading into the third the boys battled and missed many scoring chances but it was Slovakia that would take a 3-1 lead with less than five minutes to play. Daniel Ponce would get that one back a few minutes later but we could not muster enough for the tying goal. Markus Rocci was great in goal and kept the boys alive. Italia will now have to regroup and play two seeding games.
